Architects meet in Selinunte

From 21 to 23 June, the SLC architects studio took part in the eighth edition of Architects, joining Selinunte. Play with identities – everything is history, in the beautiful town of Selinunte, in the province of Trapani.

The initiative was promoted by the AIAC Italian Association of Architecture and Criticism and Studio La Monaca, in collaboration with the Municipality of Castelvetrano and Selinunte, Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa, Municipality of Gibellina, National Council of Architects CNAPPC, Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers, Conservatories of the province of Trapani, Fondazione Architetti in the Mediterranean of Trapani, Francesco La Grassa and Unicusano.

During the three days there was a rich program of conferences, conferences, installations and performances held between the Selinus Theater of Castelvetrano and the Archaeological Park of Selinunte.

On the first day, various themes were discussed, including the Sicilian Landscape, between literary and archaeological parks; Palermo capital of Italian culture 2018; Wood and Architecture in Sicily and other interesting topics. In the afternoon the traveling exhibition “Progetti Stesi” was inaugurated by Orazio La Monaca, one of the focal points of the event. Regarding this we presented our project “L’Uliveto di Egle”, chosen for the concept of contemporary architecture in the landscape; an architecture that blends with touching without overwhelming it.

The last two days were held at the Archaeological Park of Selinunte in a sublime host, surrounded by ruins and nature. The focus of the days were the lessons of important guests such as Il tempo in posa, between history and contemporary conference of Santo Eduardo Di Miceli; The city as an algorithm – as the origins of Venice offer lessons for the buildings and cities of tomorrow conference of Sophia Psarra. We had the opportunity to meet William Curtis, a great historian of architecture whose writings concern in particular the architecture of the twentieth century, and to chat with him. Our project has been “extended”, along with other real estate projects to architects from all over Sicily and will go around major cities in Italy.
